Due Today: Gold argument organizer
Propaganda: Today we talked about propaganda. First we discussed what it is and then discussed how Hitler used propaganda to spread lies about the Jewish people. To create propaganda, many people use logical fallacies. Logical fallacies are usually based on opinion, not fact.
Logical Fallacies: Then we discussed what logical fallacies are and the many different types. After, we split up into groups, were assigned different fallacies and then created propaganda about a (school appropriate) product. The reason we need to be aware of logical fallacies is so we don't use them in argument writing. It's not using logical reasoning and we want to be a credible source so we need to use logic in our writing.
If you missed today, look at the power point below to fill out the guided notes (also below). To make up for this day, make sure you turn the notes in! Also, I assigned an article of the week as homework. Download the the file below. You need at least 8 different annotations, and then answer the questions on the back.
Homework: Reading & Argument organizer 6 (buttercream color) & The article of the week!
