Topic Sentences & Transitions: Today in class we learned about topic sentences and transitions. Topic sentences are the very first sentence in the three body paragraphs. They let your reader know what that paragraph is going to be about. We use transitions within our topic sentences to create a smooth change from one paragraph to another. Each student received a list of transitions. If you didn't receive one, you can pick it up in class. After we learned about topic sentences/transitions, we practiced writing our own. We also practiced using transitions with a fun Lego activity.
Homework: Reading and 3rd body paragraph & conclusion sections on the outline
Just a heads up, we will be working on our outlines for the entire class period on Jan. 31st & Feb. 1. At the end of class on those days, the entire outline will need to be checked off.
